PHILIPS SOLID STATE LIGHTING SOLUTIONS AND BOCA FLASHER SIGN LICENSING AGREEMENT

Philips Solid-State Lighting Solutions, the new entity formed by Philips' acquisition of Color Kinetics, has announced that it has established a licensing agreement with Boca Flasher for that company's worldwide patent portfolio, allowing for increased product depth and capabilities of intelligent LED lighting products, according to a report by SID.

Boca Flasher is a US manufacturer of LED-based fixtures and modules for a diverse group of vertical markets such as architectural, retail, signage and entertainment. Its intelligent LED product lines can now utilize Philips Solid-State Lighting Solutions' proprietary control methods to generate millions of colors and color-changing effects without the maintenance-intensive use of colored gels or filters, according to a Philips press release. The global license will apply to sales of Boca Flasher products in all markets covered by Philips Solid-State Lighting Solutions' patent portfolio.

Philips Solid-State Lighting Solutions' patent portfolio focuses on a range of digital technologies and methods of controlling LED sources for a variety of lighting applications and environments. The portfolio today includes 80 issued U.S. and foreign patents and over 170 applications pending worldwide.
