‘LED EXPO & OLED EXPO 2011′ (www.ledexpo.com, www.oledexpo.com, www.didexpo.com), the biggest expo of LED and display in Korea, was opened in KINTEX, Ilsan, on June 21. LED EXPO & OLED EXPO 2011 is held from June 21 to 24 with 260 exhibitors with 600 booths from 14 countries.
This expo began in 2003, the world-first expo specified in LED at that time, and its size has been steadily growing by more than 20 percent each year. It also was designated as a “promising trade show” by the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, and also certified by UFI (Union des Foires Internationales).
This year, one of the noticeable aspects of the expo is that the number of exhibitors dealing with equipments, components and materials strikingly increased, such as JUSUNG Engineering, PROTEC, PNT, AsTEK, NEWMATECH, Zernike, MAKUS, and AIXTRON and LayTec AG from Germany, Monocrystal from Russia, Sony Chemical & Information Device Corporation and Tokuyama Corporation of Japan, and Monolithic Power Systems and Ovation Polymers from USA.
In this expo, not only Korean companies with technological competitive power, but also foreign exhibitors from countries like Germany, US, China, Taiwan, and Japan are participating, edging up 20% of the number of whole exhibitors. Especially in OLED field, David Fyfe, currently a president of David Fyfe Consulting Inc. and a founder of CDT (Cambridge Display Technology) of UK, will present professional opinions in prospect of world OLED market and current states of technologies as an experienced CEO.
‘The 9th International LED & Green Lighting Seminar 2011 (ILGLS)’ (co-chairmen Moo-Whan Sin, a professor of Yonsei University, Eui-Joon Yoon, a professor of Seoul National University, and Young-Kwan Kim, a professor of Hong Ik University), the three-day conference program, is also held concurrently with LED EXPO 2011 from 21 to 23, in the theme of eco-friendly lighting by utilizing LED.
On 23, Technical Seminar is held where leading foreign and domestic businesses of LED like GE Lighting and Momentive Performance Materials from USA, Japan’s SANYU REC, Taiwan’s EVERLIGHT, Korea’s Star Net, and MODERN HIGHTECH, etc., present about LED-related technologies and the recent trends. Also, Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and VDE Global Service will give in-depth presentations about current global SSL trends in energy efficiency and the introduction of the VDE mark and CE mark for luminaries.
