It announced that it steps up its business activities in Europe and North America to extend its success story to these markets in 2012. With its industry-leading expertise in smart LED lighting for the industrial applications, it has led the Green Smart Factory initiative in energy-consuming industrial facilities around the world, adding momentum to a green energy revolution.

To extend its presence in Europe and North America, POSCO LED will host the 2012 POSCO LED Showcase in Europe at the Marriot hotel in Frankfurt, Germany, from April 17-18, 2012, where customers around the world are invited to meet and experience its various LED lighting products for industrial, outdoor and indoor applications as well as smart lighting solutions.

The key products include Bay Light—an award-winning LED lighting product for industrial facilities, which has bee recognized for its excellence both in design and technology at many international design awards including the Good Design Awards by the Chicago Athenaeum in the US. The product boasts strong reliability by overcoming the limitations of traditional products in the most challenging environments, where high temperatures, high humidity and dust can affect performance. With its own smart fan-based heat management technology, called smart cooling, the company was able to drastically reduce the size of heat sink and deliver the lightest product, which weighs 3.8kg without a switched-mode power supply (SMPS), in the 230W category, a third of the existing industrial lighting products that average 10-13kg in weight. Benefiting from the light weight, the light is easy to install and maintain, which enables cost savings as well as increased safety.

Also, it has excellent lumen maintenance and significantly low malfunction rates, reducing maintenance costs and downtime in operation by extending the life of the product. Unlike the bulky and rough design of conventional products, its minimalist and modern approach provides aesthetic enhancements to industrial facilities.

POSCO LED is a global LED lighting maker established jointly by POSCO, a leading steel producer which has been named The most competitive steelmaker by World Steel Dynamics, and POSCO ICT, an expert company in the IT & engineering sector. It creates a synergistic effect by building a collaborative network with globally renowned research institutes and companies, such as POSTECH and RIST, and Seoul Semiconductor, one of the top 3 LED manufacturers in the world.
