Seoul Semiconductor to Launch New Side View LED Flaunting the Highest Light Speed |

On Thursday, Seoul Semiconductor, a Korean company manufacturing LED devices, said it has launched a new side view LED package with 8.8㏐ in light speed, the highest in the world, in a bid to respond to the expansion of the smart device market.
Its side view LED package is designed to serve as BLUs (back light units) mainly for smartphones and smart pads. The Side View LED package, 0.6㎜ in thickness, can further enhance screen brightness while cutting energy consumption. Seoul Semiconductor has also decided to apply high-speed, energy-saving technologies to its existing 0.8㎜, 0.4㎜ models.
Back in 2002, Seoul Semiconductor released its first 1mm side view LED package. Since then, it has supplied 0.8㎜, 0.6㎜, 0.5㎜ packages to global companies and it also successfully developed a 0.3㎜ model.
“We will continue to make responses to changes in the global smart device market and maintain a comparative advantage by rolling out thinner and brighter side view LED packages,” said Kwon Hyeok-won, Vice President of Seoul Semiconductor.
